and varieties are planted on the 18 Supertrees.
Enormous, futuristic trees made of concrete and steel soar skyward. At night, they are bathed in green, blue and violet light. The "Supertrees" of Singapore are one of the five images chosen to illustrate our employer brand. Why the Supertrees? As part of a unique and visionary project in the megacity, they embody our message of "Passion to innovate | Power to Change."
Just a few minutes from Singapore’s banking hub and nestled between skyscrapers and the sea, visionary city planners and architects have created a one-of-a-kind park landscape: "Gardens by the Bay." The centerpieces of these gardens are eighteen "Supertrees," gigantic steel sequoias that are themselves home to enclaves of exotic orchids, ferns and bromeliads.
"The Supertrees are part of an innovative environmental project inspired by the enormous challenges Singapore is facing," says Christine Knebel, who leads our employer brand project together with Farsana Jakubi. In Singapore, the city government, architects, engineers and environmental specialists have worked hand in hand on the project. Through their commitment to public spaces and greenery, they have made an important contribution to keeping modern Singapore attractive for tourists, and at the same time ensuring the city’s high quality of life.
In the Supertrees, we see an extraordinary combination of sustainable technologies and visionary architecture. They stand as an example of how people, working together, can bring about change and create sustainable innovations.
The Supertrees show what "Passion to innovate | Power to change" can really mean. Christine Knebel puts it this way, "In the Supertrees, we see an extraordinary combination of sustainable technologies and visionary architecture. They stand as an example of how people, working together, can bring about change and create sustainable innovations." And for precisely that reason, Bayer chose the image for its employer brand.
